ScottishPower Renewables' First Onshore Apprentices Graduate

ScottishPower Renewables (SPR) has celebrated a major milestone in its apprenticeship programme, with its very first cohort of Onshore Operational Technician apprentices officially completing their four-year programme and becoming fully qualified technicians.

Ben and Denver, the two original apprentices, along with fellow participants Nadir Mouffok and Dean Tyrrell, completed the scheme. During the programme, they gained industry-recognised qualifications, including City & Guilds certifications and an HNC in Electrical Engineering, alongside intensive training and hands-on experience in the field.

As the first cohort graduates, SPR is simultaneously welcoming the next wave of talent. On Sunday, 1 September, Harry Officer, Robbie Brown, Ben Marshall, and Kyle Muirhead became SPR's first craft apprentices. They have joined the new three-year Fitting Craft Apprenticeship to train as fully qualified electrical fitters within the O&M Field Ops ENOPS team.

Ross Galbraith, SPR's Onshore Construction & Operations Director, said: "These schemes aren't just about training - they're about giving people the chance to build meaningful careers in clean energy."

Apprentice Robbie Brown said he was drawn to the programme because of its reputation for "high-quality training and its commitment to renewable energy and sustainability."

SPR confirmed that it is investing in people as well as infrastructure, with the apprenticeship programmes designed to support the development of a workforce ready to lead the transition to net zero.
