A regeneration development in Clydebank has secured a major national accolade, being named Affordable Housing Development of the Year at The Herald Property Awards for Scotland 2025.
The Clydebank East development, which welcomed its first tenants last year, beat nine other projects to win the prestigious award, which honours innovation and excellence in Scotland's property sectors.
The development comprises 88 high-quality homes, ranging from one-bedroom flats to five-bedroom properties, including homes designed for families with additional needs.
Crucially, it is the Council's first Net Zero Ready housing initiative. Located on a former industrial site, it is celebrated as a flagship example of urban regeneration, combining sustainable design with placemaking to create a vibrant new community. The project supports the Council's transition to net zero while directly addressing the housing emergency.
Councillor Gurpreet Singh Johal, Convener of Housing and Communities, expressed his delight, saying: "The Clydebank East development represents the Council's commitment to building sustainable, inclusive communities and meeting the changing needs of our residents with a wide range of properties available."
During the judging process, which saw more than 120 entries submitted across the awards, judges visited a five-bedroom house and heard from a tenant about the life-changing impact the spacious home had made on her and her young family.
Councillor Hazel Sorrell, Vice Convener of Housing and Communities, added that the recognition reflects the hard work involved in transforming a disused site into a neighbourhood that "is delivering for a range of tenants."
