SSEN Transmission is holding two public engagement events in October to share detailed information on revised plans aimed at minimising the impact of essential roadworks on a 4.7km section of the A832 road, from south of Dundonnell through to Fain Bridge.

The events follow the company's commitment to seek solutions after receiving community feedback on its initial proposals. The roadworks are required to replace or upgrade 37 culverts along the cable route in preparation for the installation of the proposed Western Isles HVDC cable.

SSEN Transmission has already announced that no work will take place until January 2026 at the earliest, allowing time to develop these revised proposals.

Details of the engagement events are:

• Monday, 27 October 2025 (6pm-8pm): Aultbea Hall, Aultbea, IV22 2JR.

• Tuesday, 28 October 2025 (6pm-8pm): Badcaul Church, Dundonnell, IV23 2QY.

Niall Macleod, Project Director for SSEN Transmission, said the company is committed to seeking solutions to minimise impact, such as using "single lane closures or nighttime working." He added that public engagement is a key part of their process and that the feedback received is "helping shape our approach to this important project."
