Plans for the redevelopment of the former high flats site in Irvine are set to be unveiled to the public. The site, where five tower blocks were demolished in late 2023, is being proposed for the construction of 43 modern, energy-efficient homes in Fullarton.
North Ayrshire Council’s draft proposals, which are subject to planning approval, include:
– 36 general needs homes.
– four amenity bungalows.
– three properties suitable for wheelchair users.
Councillor Alan Hill, Cabinet Member for Communities, Housing and Islands, said: "In North Ayrshire, we have one of the most ambitious house-building programmes in the country and are already more than halfway towards our target of building more than 1,600 new homes across North Ayrshire. It will be wonderful to see this site... transformed into a vibrant, modern and welcoming community."
Work is currently scheduled to get under way in early 2027, subject to planning permission being granted, with completion expected in spring 2028.
Residents and interested parties are invited to view and discuss the draft plans at a drop-in event to be held on Tuesday, 7 October 2025, from 4pm-6pm at Fullarton ConneXions, Church Street, Irvine, KA12 8PE.
