East Whitburn Housing Development Underway

Cairn Housing Association has officially broken ground on a new housing development in East Whitburn, West Lothian, marking its first collaboration with Ogilvie Homes.

The project, located at Hens Nest Road, will deliver 19 high-quality, energy-efficient homes for social rent, providing much-needed housing options for local families.

The mix of terraced and semi-detached properties includes two specially designed accessible amenity houses tailored for residents with mobility needs. The homes will range from two to four bedrooms. A core feature of the development is its focus on sustainability and lower running costs, with each property incorporating air source heat pumps to provide modern, energy-efficient heating that will help reduce tenants’ energy bills and lower carbon emissions.

The project is being supported by funding from the Scottish Government, provided via the Allia Charitable Bond donation. Brown and Wallace has been appointed as Employer’s Agent, with C~urb serving as Clerk of Works. Completion of the new homes is expected in late 2026.

Audrey Simpson, Chief Executive of Cairn Housing Association, expressed delight about the new partnership: "We are delighted to be working with Ogilvie Homes for the first time on this exciting development in East Whitburn. These new homes will provide much-needed, energy-efficient housing for families and individuals in West Lothian, including accessible homes for those with mobility needs. At Cairn, we are committed to creating sustainable communities, and this project is an important step towards that goal."

Julie Leece, Land Director of Ogilvie Homes, echoed this sentiment:

"We are very pleased to be working in partnership with Cairn Housing Association, for the first time, on this project. Ogilvie Homes are providing much-needed, high quality, affordable new homes that are not only safe and secure, but are highly energy efficient. As always, our site team will engage with nearby residents to keep them advised of progress of construction work and ensure minimum disruption throughout the development."
