Millheugh Bridge in Larkhall has officially reopened to traffic and the public following the completion of extensive structural and surface improvement works.

The reopening restores a much needed and well used route for the local community, according to Renfrewshire Council.

The comprehensive works were designed to ensure the long-term safety and durability of the structure. The project involved essential concrete and steel repairs to both the bridge deck and the sub-structure. In addition to structural reinforcement, all steel elements of the bridge were fully painted, the carriageway underwent complete resurfacing, and the critical expansion joints were renewed.

Councillor Robert Brown, Chair of the council's Community and Enterprise Resources Committee, emphasised the value of the completed infrastructure. He said: "The re-opening of the bridge restores a much needed and well used route for the local community. We appreciate the public's patience and understanding during these essential works, which will help ensure the long-term safety and durability of the bridge."
