Robertson Facilities Management (RFM) has been awarded a £5 million contract over five years to provide hard facilities management services for the National Galleries of Scotland.

The contract, which follows a competitive tender process, is set to go live on Sunday, 1 December.

RFM will take on facilities management for eight sites, including the National Gallery, Portrait Gallery, and Modern One and Modern Two in Edinburgh. The contract also covers the Royal Scottish Academy and various associated storage facilities. These venues house a significant collection of Scottish art and other notable works, attracting more than 2.4 million visitors last year. The scope of the work includes planned and reactive building maintenance, as well as mechanical, electrical, and plumbing works.

Adrian Mole, Executive Managing Director at RFM, said the new partnership will strengthen the company's portfolio and allow it to support one of Scotland's most important cultural institutions. A spokesperson for the National Galleries of Scotland said the Galleries "look forward to our partnership." This latest award reinforces RFM's growing public sector portfolio and its strategy to expand its operations in Edinburgh. The company was also recently appointed to a five-year contract for the National Records of Scotland and is in the middle of a five-year deal with the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service.
