The Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) is inviting construction professionals worldwide to respond to its new consultation on global construction standards.
The public consultation will run for six weeks, until it closes on Friday, 24 October 2025.
For the first time, RICS plans to release a single professional standard that incorporates global principles of Quantity Surveying and Project Management. The new standard, which was authored by industry expert Matt Thompson and supported by an expert group of RICS members, will replace the 32 separate guidance notes previously issued over a twelve-year period.
Amit Patel, RICS Head of Professional Practice (Construction), stated that the new model will enable professionals to update their practice more swiftly and create a more consistent framework for standards. He implored all construction professionals, whether RICS members or not, to get involved in the consultation.
The organisation plans to launch the final version of the professional standard in Q1 2026 after all responses have been analysed and incorporated.
