New Mobile App Launches To Combat Carbon Monoxide Poisoning

A new mobile tool, the Think CO app, has been launched to equip frontline workers with essential advice and resources on carbon monoxide (CO) safety.

Developed in partnership with the Gas Safe Charity and the UK's Gas Distribution Networks (GDNs), the app is designed to help safeguard vulnerable individuals by providing instant CO safety guidance during home visits or emergency situations.

The app's launch comes during Gas Safety Week 2025, an annual initiative to raise awareness about the silent and deadly danger of CO poisoning. The project is part of the GDNs' commitment to reducing CO harm across the UK, supported by a £43,000 investment over three years.

The Think CO app offers instant access to a range of critical features, including:

• Immediate guidance on identifying CO poisoning symptoms and the actions to take in an emergency.

• Real-time information that works even without a mobile signal.

• Resources on the Priority Services Register (PSR) and home fire safety visits.

• Ongoing support for workers who have completed the Think CO training programme, which has trained over 4,000 people since 2016.

Dan Edwards, Social Impact Programme Lead at SGN, said the app will be a "vital resource" for teams working with vulnerable households. Hilary Bath, Programme Director at the Gas Safe Charity, added that the app will "empower frontline teams with the resources they need to protect vulnerable individuals."
