Amended plans for the major Durieshill housing development in Stirling have been approved by the Stirling Council's Planning and Regulation Panel.

The changes, requested by new lead developer Barratt Homes, will see adjustments to housing types in three plots, which represent around 17% of the total site.

The overall masterplan for the 593-acre site remains the same, with approval for the creation of more than 3,000 new homes, 25% of which will be affordable housing. The first phase of the development will include 543 properties, ranging from one to five-bedroom homes, as well as apartments, and terraced, semi-detached, and detached units.

The proposals were approved on Tuesday, 2 September, subject to a legal agreement with Barratt Homes to secure land for new schools, shops, and other key community infrastructure. The construction is expected to span 30 years, with hopes of creating around 130 new jobs during the build and a further 770 post-construction.

The project, which was first identified in 2004, will also support biodiversity with 20 hectares of additional tree planting.
