South Lanarkshire Council will spend over £2 million of Climate Emergency Funding on a range of projects to tackle climate change and stimulate the local economy.
The funding, a total of £2.198 million, was granted from the Scottish Government's one-off ScotWind budget.
Among the projects is a £460,000 trial of low-carbon road resurfacing using a warm-mix asphalt. The council will also replace traditional halogen traffic signals with LED alternatives at a cost of £250,000 and use over £100,000 to upgrade Chatelherault and Calderglen Country Parks.
Other initiatives include an online system or app to provide free reusable school uniforms, which will receive £20,000 in funding.
Councillor Norman Rae, Chair of the council's Climate Change and Sustainability Committee, said he was "delighted" the fund would support such a "wide variety of projects," all of which will have "lasting benefits."
