A new learning facility for young people with additional support needs has officially opened its doors at Bannockburn High School. Known as Bluebell House, the facility was formally handed over to Stirling Council on Tuesday, 11 August, and welcomed pupils for the new term.
The first phase of the project, which cost an estimated £5.1 million, provides tailored accommodation for up to 24 pupils and includes classrooms, a sensory room, and a GP room. The design and build contract was delivered by Hub East Central Scotland Ltd, with Ogilvie Construction serving as the main contractor. Work on a second phase is due to begin later in the year, which will extend the facility and double its capacity to 48 pupils.
Councillor Danny Gibson, Convener of Children and Young People, said the facility is "greatly needed" and will provide a "huge benefit to our local communities." Grier Edmead, Operations Director at Ogilvie Construction, added that as a Stirling-based business, the company was "delighted to have delivered a modern building that creates a unique learning environment for our young people."
