Scottish Construction Pipeline Value Soars To Over £18bn

Scotland's Construction Pipeline Forecast Tool continues to grow, with the projects now listed on the free-to-access platform valued at over £18 billion.

The tool, which is developed and managed by the Scottish Futures Trust, provides greater clarity on future public sector work, now containing 1,192 projects from 50 public bodies to be delivered by 2035.

The platform is focused on providing transparency for the thousands of SMEs that make up Scotland's construction sector, with 50% of the projects valued at below £2 million.

Claire Pollock, Data & Insights Manager at the Scottish Futures Trust, said: "The continued engagement and support by our public sector partners is greatly appreciated and we have seen an increase in membership and usage of the platform. This underpins our ambition to improve the transparency of Scotland’s construction pipeline to support the sector.

"In addition, the recent launch of the UK NISTA Infrastructure Pipeline provides further transparency of UK Government funded infrastructure projects in Scotland. This compliments the national picture of our own pipeline tool."

The latest update identifies £7.2bn worth of projects to be delivered by 2030, with approximately 63% to be procured through existing frameworks. To help businesses with this, the Scottish Futures Trust has updated its frameworks and development partners mapping tool with support from Geisel Consulting.

Peter Queen of Geisel Consulting stated that the tools provide the "insight businesses need to plan for the long term and invest with confidence".

The team is also hosting a free webinar on Thursday, 25 September, where they will demonstrate key market trends affecting the pipeline and show attendees how to access crucial insights from the platform.
