Richardson & Starling recently completed the successful delivery of a major upgrade to elevated communal walkways serving residential flats above retail units in Perth.
Covering around 200 m², this project involved removing leaking and degraded surfaces, repairing the structure, and applying an advanced liquid-applied waterproofing system, tried and tested for its resilience in the unpredictable Scottish weather.
The project was executed in phases to ensure remaining occupants could access their properties. The works navigated challenging concrete substrates, new handrail integration, new concrete slab raised walkways and all within restricted site conditions.
Residents and shop owners had endured years of leaking walkways and difficulty accessing their properties. Clear and proactive communication ensured tenants and businesses experienced minimal disruption, resulting in dry, secure, and visually enhanced walkways.
The Scottish weather provided some site delivery challenges, however, the project was delivered to the client at a value below the initial budget. The transformation of the walkways not only restored the buildings infrastructure, it revitalised daily life for the building users.
