The new Hawkhill Primary School in Winchburgh has been officially completed ahead of schedule and within budget, with the state-of-the-art facility handed over to West Lothian Council on Monday, 4 August.
Delivered by development partner Hub South East and main contractor Morrison Construction, the single-stream school will open its doors to pupils on Wednesday, 13 August 2025. It features eight classrooms, outdoor sports pitches, landscaping, and future nursery provision. The building has been designed with flexibility in mind, allowing for potential expansion as the local population continues to grow.
West Lothian's Executive Councillor for Education, Andrew McGuire, welcomed the milestone:"It's fantastic to see the superb Hawkhill Primary School completed, ready to welcome its first intake of children from next week.
"Thanks to everyone involved in delivering this complex project for their hard work in ensuring it could be completed ahead of time and on budget.
"I'm sure residents in the eastern end of Winchburgh will be pleased to have such an excellent state-of-the-art school on their doorstep."
The school has been fully funded by Winchburgh Developments Ltd as part of the wider development agreement supporting new housing in the growing community. Winchburgh is one of West Lothian’s designated Core Development Areas, with significant investment in infrastructure to support expanding populations.
Ian Bowd, Projects Director at Hub South East, said: "We're delighted to have successfully handed over the new Hawkhill Primary School, an inspiring space which is going to make a real positive difference to the learner journey of its young people when it opens in the new school term.
"This project further strengthens our successful partnership with West Lothian Council, having delivered a number of award-winning projects together and we're proud to have been entrusted with this latest investment in our client's education estate."
