Clark Contracts has been appointed to complete the £6.6 million fit-out of four levels within the Aurora Building at 120 Bothwell Street in Glasgow for SSE.
The project will provide 62,000 sq. ft. of high-specification, modern office space for SSE's distribution, transmission, and Eastern Green Link teams, expanding the company's existing presence in the city.
The work will see the building's fifth, sixth, and seventh floors, along with a section of the ground floor, refurbished to include a 180-person conference suite, a catering kitchen, breakout space, and meeting rooms.
One of Scotland's most sustainable offices, the Aurora Building has achieved Net Zero Carbon status, an Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) 'A+' rating, and BREEAM 'Excellent' certification, and is 100% powered by renewable sources. The refurbishment will also deliver a 77% reduction in carbon emissions compared to an equivalent new-build property.
David Tate, Director of Property & FM at SSE, commented: "Following a rigorous selection process, SSE is pleased to be partnering with Clark Contracts to progress the fit-out of our new office premises at the Aurora Building. SSE continues to invest billions into the net zero transition, with the lease acquisition within this highly sustainable building supporting the delivery of these plans."
Gerry Cummins, a director at Clark Contracts, added: "We are proud to have been appointed to deliver the CAT B fit-out of the Aurora building for our new client, SSE. This is a significant project in a prime city centre location, and we are working closely with the wider project team to ensure it is delivered to the highest standard."
