Fife Council has announced that essential work to improve pedestrian and cyclist access around the site of the new Caledonia High School will commence in mid-August. This initial phase of the project, expected to last approximately 18 weeks, will see a new multi-use path installed along the south side of Admiralty Road (A985), significantly enhancing safety for those travelling to the school on foot or by bicycle ahead of its opening.

To minimise disruption, the works will primarily be carried out at night. However, a lane closure will be in place with temporary traffic lights, and pedestrian diversions will be necessary.

Alastair Drummond, Fife Council's Schools Replacement Programme Manager, acknowledged the challenges but stressed the importance of the work: "The work that we are planning is essential before the new school opens. The safety of those travelling to school on foot, or cycling and scooting, will be much improved with the installation of this multi-use path."

He added: "We are aware that this is a very busy section of road and that there will be disruption to traffic during this first phase of the works but we will do everything we can to minimise this. We apologise in advance for any inconvenience this will cause but it is a necessary part of the project."

Fife Council plans to notify the public with a fixed start date as soon as it is confirmed, allowing commuters and local residents to plan their routes in advance. The council will also monitor the traffic situation and make adjustments as the works progress. The new Caledonia High School, located on the Fleet Grounds in Rosyth, is due to open in August 2026.
