Lost Shore Surf Resort, Scotland's premier inland surf destination, has scooped a prestigious GOLD Design Innovation Award at the recent Scottish Design Awards.
The accolade recognises the resort's exceptional design, with mechanical and electrical (M&E) services provider Arc-Tech (Scotland) playing a key supporting role.
Opened in 2024, the 60-acre Lost Shore Surf Resort is notable for housing Europe's largest wave pool. Beyond its main attraction, the complex includes a variety of food and retail outlets, 31 luxury lodges, 22 camping pods, a 'SurfSkate' area, and wellness treatment facilities.
Arc-Tech (Scotland) contributed significantly to the resort's delivery, completing a £6 million Mechanical & Electrical Services package on behalf of Malcolm Group. This extensive installation featured an innovative air-source heat pump farm, comprising three industrial-scale pumps, a water storage and booster system housed within a purpose-built plantroom, as well as solar PV panels and 41 EV charging points. The award specifically recognised the design of the HUB buildings located throughout the resort, with Arc-Tech extending congratulations to Oberlanders Architects for receiving the prestigious accolade.
The Scottish Design Awards, established in 1998, are one of the country's most respected and long-standing awards bodies, celebrated for highlighting excellence in Scottish design, architecture, and creativity.
Arc-Tech (Scotland) celebrated further success at the awards, with Maltings Wynd, a residential development in north Glasgow, securing a double win. This 78-home project was recognised with both the Residential (Multi-Unit) and Client of the Year (Architecture) awards. Arc-Tech's in-house Sprinklers division supported its delivery, with installations undertaken for main contractor CCG (Scotland) and principal client igloo Regeneration.
Additionally, a second residential development, Water Row, which received support from Arc-Tech's Renewables and Sprinklers divisions, was honoured with a SILVER award for Affordable Housing.
