South Ayrshire Communities Shape Their Future With Council Support

Construction News Image
South Ayrshire Council's Thriving Communities team is continuing its vital work in supporting local community councils to develop Community-Led Action Plans across the region.

These action plans serve as a blueprint for each community, outlining a shared vision, identifying key local priorities, and detailing the practical steps required to achieve meaningful and positive change. The plans typically address a range of social, economic, and environmental issues that are of utmost importance to the residents.

Officers from the Council's Thriving Communities team have been working closely with community councils and various local groups, providing essential guidance, resources, and practical support throughout the entire planning process. This ensures that each action plan accurately reflects the unique needs and aspirations of the specific local area it represents.

Recent examples of successfully completed Community-Led Action Plans include those developed by the communities of Monkton; Crosshill, Straiton and Kirkmichael; and Tarbolton. These important documents are now publicly accessible and can be viewed on the South Ayrshire Council website at .

This initiative is part of an ongoing commitment to ensure that every community within South Ayrshire has the opportunity to actively participate in shaping its own future. The Thriving Communities team will continue its collaborative efforts with communities and local groups across the region to facilitate the development of further community-led action plans.

Councillor Bob Pollock, South Ayrshire Council's Portfolio Holder for Economic Development, commented: "It's fantastic to see the progress being made through the development of Community-Led Action Plans across South Ayrshire. These plans reflect the voices of local people and provide a clear direction for positive change within our communities. I'd like to thank our Thriving Communities team for their continued support in empowering community councils to shape the future of their areas. We look forward to working with even more communities in the months ahead."

Councillor Alec Clark, South Ayrshire Council's Portfolio Holder for Rural Affairs, added: "Our rural communities are rich in character and full of potential, and I'm delighted to see these plans being developed within these areas. These plans are already having a positive impact, and we're committed to continuing this support so that every rural community in South Ayrshire has the opportunity to thrive."
