Clark Contracts has commenced work on a new £30 million purpose-built student accommodation (PBSA) development on Osborne Street in Glasgow.
The contractor was appointed by Ambassador Group to undertake the design and build of the 273-bed project.
Located in the heart of Glasgow City Centre within the Trongate area, the 11-storey building will offer a total of 273 student rooms. The development will also feature state-of-the-art resident amenities, including a student lounge, gymnasium, and a large south-facing terrace offering views over the River Clyde.
A sod-cutting ceremony on 9th April marked the official start of construction. Attendees included Ahsan Afzal and Grant Millar from Ambassador Group, Alan Tang, Group CEO and Executive Director from funder Far East Orchard (FEOR), members of the design team, and the Clark Contracts project team, including Director Michael Scanlan and Operations Director Danny McKibbens.
This development marks the debut of Ambassador Group's new student accommodation concept, Nova Living. This concept aims to establish a new standard in the market by focusing on sustainable and connected living within a high-quality, community-focused residential environment. Nova Living intends to bring innovation to the urban living experience, prioritising sustainability and well-being for its residents.
The design team for the project includes Gardiner & Theobald, Mosiac Architecture, Blyth & Blyth, and Troup Bywaters & Anders.
Ahsan Afzal, Head of Development for Nova Living at Ambassador Group, commented: "We are delighted to finally commence development of our first student accommodation scheme with our partners FEOR. We look forward to working with the Clark Contracts team in delivering this scheme which will provide much needed beds for Glasgow."
Alan Tang, Group CEO and Executive Director at FEOR, said: "This is a significant milestone for us at Far East Orchard, as the Osborne Street project is the first development project undertaken by the private student accommodation development fund which we established in August 2024. We're excited to be working alongside Ambassador Group and Clark Contracts' team, and we look forward to creating a space that supports students and adds value to the local community."
Michael Scanlan, Director at Clark Contracts, added: "It is fantastic for us to be working on another student accommodation project in Glasgow, having delivered over 1,400 beds in recent years. We look forward to working collaboratively with Ambassador Group, Far East Orchard, and the design team to deliver this project and seeing the building take shape over the coming months."
