Pacific Completes Edinburgh Airport Expansion Works

Construction News Image
The Sir Walter Scott bar, located in the airside section of Edinburgh International Airport's main concourse and operated by pub chain JD Wetherspoon, has expanded its capacity with a newly completed seating area.

The extension, delivered by Pacific, provides more than 120 additional covers for the popular outlet.

The new overspill area is delineated by timber screens and planters, which were manufactured by Pacific's own joinery workshop. The project also included the installation of new vinyl flooring, waiter stations, and banquette seating. A central steel frame structure has been erected to provide prominent signage and branding for the expanded space.

In contrast to the more enclosed existing Sir Walter Scott bar, the new extension has been designed to be light, bright, and airy, benefiting from its location adjacent to windows that offer views across the airport runway.

The JD Wetherspoon outlet has proven to be a significant draw for passengers seeking refreshments or a meal before their flights, whether they are travelling domestically or internationally.

A spokesperson for Pacific commented on the successful completion of the project, noting the company's expertise in delivering projects within airport environments. They stated that while Wetherspoon "claim to have cracked the formula for a great pub – Pacific have clearly cracked the formula for great project delivery at airports."
