A section of the A926 Blairgowrie to Alyth road will be closed for six weeks, starting today, Monday 17 February, to allow for the replacement of a 600-metre length of gas main by SGN.
The road closure, between Pictfield and the Half Way House junction, was initially implemented last week for an emergency repair, however further investigation revealed the need for a more extensive replacement.
"Due to its location in the middle of the road, it would be dangerous to operate a contraflow system while engineers are working," stated a spokesperson for Perth and Kinross Council.
The Council is working to minimise disruption by coordinating other planned road works in the area to coincide with the gas main replacement.
Diversions will be in place, and Stagecoach bus services will be adjusted accordingly.
"We appreciate the inconvenience this will cause for many motorists but these works by SGN are vital for ensuring the safety and reliability of the gas supply," the spokesperson added.
