Green Marine UK, a Stromness-based marine services provider, is expanding its operations into the offshore wind sector with the support of a £218,750 investment from Highlands and Islands Enterprise (HIE).
The funding will enable the company to acquire advanced surveying equipment, allowing it to offer a wider range of services to the growing offshore wind market. This expansion is expected to create three new, highly skilled jobs in Orkney.
"This development will help Orkney to build on its international reputation as a leader in renewable energy," said Ruth Kirkpatrick, area team leader for HIE in Orkney. "We’re pleased to be able to support Green Marine’s expansion and we look forward to continuing to working with them as the project develops."
Founded in 2012, Green Marine UK has grown significantly, providing a range of marine services, including vessel charters and engineering expertise, to clients across Europe.
"We are hugely grateful to Highlands and Islands Enterprise for backing Green Marine and supporting our ambitious expansion plans," said Jason Schofield, managing director of Green Marine. "This investment will ensure further upskilling of the local workforce, and driving job and wealth creation in Orkney."
The company will leverage its existing expertise in the marine sector to capitalize on the increasing demand for environmental monitoring services within the rapidly expanding offshore wind industry.
