The first phase of a major housing development at Woodend Farm in Falkirk has been completed, with the handover of 32 new social homes marking a significant milestone.

The £31 million project, supported by £9 million of Scottish Government funding, will ultimately deliver 111 new homes, including 99 newly built properties and 12 homes within the restored C-listed Woodend Farmhouse and Steading.

"Investing in high-quality, affordable, social housing is a key priority for Falkirk Council, addressing our housing shortfall and building communities where people and families can thrive," said Councillor Gary Bouse, Falkirk Council’s spokesperson for Housing.

The development, which began in July 2022, is being delivered by Falkirk Council and is expected to be fully completed by August 2025.

The homes are designed to the highest sustainability standards, incorporating features such as solar panels to enhance energy efficiency.

"We look forward to welcoming more tenants as the next phases of the project progress," added Councillor Bouse.

The project also includes a "hedgehog highway" within the fencing to support local biodiversity.
