CALA Homes (East) has been selected by West Lothian Council to build 15 new affordable homes in Linlithgow.
The development, located at Preston Glade, will include a mix of house types, including two-bedroom bungalows, three-bedroom semi-detached houses, and one-bedroom cottage flats.
All homes will feature energy-efficient air source heat pumps, reducing carbon emissions and lowering long-term energy costs for residents.
Construction work is scheduled to begin in January 2025, with completion expected in early 2026. The project is funded by West Lothian Council, with support from Scottish Government grants.
Executive councillor for housing George Paul said: "I'm delighted that work will start soon to deliver new homes for rent in Linlithgow, which is an area of high demand for social housing.
"We are making every possible effort to increase our housing stock to try and meet demand through working with developers and buying back former council homes with the limited resources we have available.
"This has allowed us to increase our housing stock by 294 homes since 2020, taking our total housing stock to 14,325 homes.
"I'm especially pleased to see bungalows are a significant part of this development, which are much valued by our increasing older population.
"We look forward to working with Cala Homes East in the delivery of these superb new energy-efficient homes for local residents."
The agreement to build affordable homes on behalf of West Lothian Council is the latest milestone for Cala in Linlithgow. A further £1.6 million in Section 75 benefits resulting from the Preston Glade development includes more than £500,000 funding for local schools.
Derek Lawson, Strategic Land Director at Cala Homes (East), said: "We are proud to partner with West Lothian Council in delivering these 15 much-needed homes.
"This project represents our continued commitment to creating high-quality, sustainable housing that meets the needs of the local community."
