A planning application has been submitted for the first phase of the redevelopment of the former Herdmanflat Hospital site in East Lothian.
The application details the design and layout of 51 new residential homes, which will be specifically designed for older people. The development aims to address the urgent need for affordable housing in the area.
The plans have been informed by a three-year period of surveys and consultation with the local community. The development will incorporate sustainable design principles and respect the site's heritage and landscape character.
East Lothian Council purchased the site from NHS Lothian in 2020 and has been working to bring forward the redevelopment plans.
Members of the public can view the planning application and provide feedback on the council's website.
