Hebridean Housing Partnership (HHP) has successfully completed the first phase of a 74-home development in An Allt Dubh, Uist. The initial 33 homes have been handed over to tenants, marking a significant milestone for the project.
Calmax Construction Limited faced a challenging summer with adverse weather conditions, yet persevered to bring this phase to completion. The development is a joint venture with TIG, resulting in the construction of 12 homes, including eight for rent and four for rent-to-buy.
Local firm MacInnes Bros Ltd undertook the construction of these high-quality homes. Funding for the project was primarily sourced from the Scottish Government, with additional support from Comhairle nan Eilean Siar's ACTISH fund and borrowing by HHP and TIG. As part of their community benefit commitment, MacInnes Bros generously donated £2,000 to the North Uist U12s girls Athletics team to support their participation in the National Finals in Glasgow last year.
Gordon MacLeod, Chairperson of HHP commented: "This first phase of 33 homes at An Allt Dubh is testament to the collaborative efforts with the Scottish Government who supported the development with funding of £9.5million. The exceptional quality of these homes is down to the skilled workmanship of Calmax Construction Limited and our shared commitment to community development. The milestone marks a significant step forward in our commitment to providing quality homes and we look forward to the continued growth and positive impact this project will bring to the area."
