Network Rail has announced a series of track improvement works on the Far North Line next month as part of a £1.6 million investment.
Engineers will replace rails and sleepers in Merkinch Ferry, Alness, and Dingwall overnight from Monday to Thursday, October 7th to November 28th. This work aims to extend the life of the track and ensure reliable train services for years to come.
Blair Cockburn, project manager at Network Rail Scotland, emphasised the importance of this investment: "This work will not only prolong the life of the track but also improve service reliability for passengers. By carrying out the work overnight, we can maximise productivity and complete the project more efficiently."
Network Rail is encouraging passengers to plan their journeys in advance and thank them for their patience and understanding during the construction period.
