The JR Group has started work on a new £9 million housing development in Paisley, which will see quality, energy-efficient homes brought to the area on behalf of Loretto Housing Association (LHA).
LHA, part of Wheatley Group, is building 48 affordable homes for social rent at East Lane in Paisley. The new homes will cater for a range of needs and include a mix of one and two-bedroom, alongside wheelchair accessible properties. Solar PV cells will be installed on the homes to maximise energy efficiency.
Laura Henderson, Managing Director of Loretto, said: "We know there is a huge demand for affordable homes in Scotland and we are committed to playing our part in helping meet this demand by building quality housing.
"Working closely with our partners at the Scottish Government and our contractors The JR Group, we are investing in better futures for our customers.
"Paisley has a lot to offer as it is a thriving hub with good transport links to Glasgow and surrounding areas, with East Lane being in close proximity to supermarkets and local parks."
The project is being delivered by The JR Group which started life as a scaffolding business in 1995 and has since grown to become one of Scotland's largest building and construction firms, employs around 200 staff.
Andrew Dallas, Projects Director at The JR Group added: "With The JR Group headquartered in Paisley, we're delighted to partner with Loretto Housing Association to create much-needed, quality homes on our doorstep.
"We have worked closely with Loretto to ensure the homes meet the needs of the community and sustainability has also been a key factor.
"We look forward to completing the project and seeing the development's new residents settle into their homes."
The development at East Lane is set to be completed in March 2025.
Wheatley Group, which owns and manages over 93,700 homes including Loretto, was recently named as the UK's biggest builder of social housing over the past decade.
