CCG Completes New Govan Housing Development

CCG (Scotland) has announced the successful completion of a new £9 million housing development in Govan.

The Leader of Glasgow City Council, Susan Aitken, visited the Trust Housing Association development to formally mark the completion of 46 new energy efficient and affordable flats in the centre of the town.

The £9 million project on Langlands Road was delivered in partnership with Glasgow City Council and CCG with the first tenants having moved into their new homes in April.

Langlands Road is in a prominent town centre location, formerly a surface level car park, adjacent to the Govan Cross Shopping Centre. The site benefits from proximity to excellent public transport links with Govan Subway Station and Govan Bus Terminal located only 200 metres away. The site is also in close proximity to Trust's Glasgow office and retirement development on Elder Street and Garmouth Court in Govan.

The homes have been designed to meet the 'Housing for Various Needs' standards, 'Greener Standard' and 'Secure by Design Gold Standard', whilst CCG's advanced, offsite construction methods will ensure residents will benefit from drastically reduced heat loss, thanks to the homes' enhanced thermal performance, which will in turn help to control fuel bills and lower carbon emissions.

Rhona McLeod, Trust CEO commented: "We are delighted to have worked with Glasgow City Council and CCG (Scotland) Ltd to deliver these new build homes in Glasgow, playing part in the regeneration of this community which is one of the many communities we currently serve throughout Scotland. I am delighted to welcome our new customers to Trust and their new homes."

Councillor Susan Aitken, Leader of Glasgow City Council, said: "The completion of these much-needed and high-quality new homes in Govan will not only to meet the demand for socially-rented housing in the area, but complements the other developments currently taking place there.

These homes are extremely energy-efficient and will have significantly lower energy bills, have a great location be very close to shopping and great transport links, and the residents can look forward to even better links when the new Govan-Partick Bridge opens later this year."

Calum Murray, CCG Director, said: "The positive impact that housing-led regeneration can have on our communities cannot be understated and there are few greater examples in the city of Glasgow than Govan.

"CCG has operated in the area for a number of years. We know this community extremely well so it is another proud moment for us to celebrate the completion of this new development alongside Trust and our design partners, MAST Architects and G3 Engineers.

"The creation of local jobs, apprenticeships and investment further cements the legacy of Langlands Road and we look forward to working with Trust again very soon."
