North Ayrshire Council has announced a 'Meet the Builder' event for its latest housing development in the Garnock Valley.

A total of 50 homes are planned for part of the former Garnock Academy site in Kilbirnie.

The £12.1m proposal – supported by a £5.3m Scottish Government Grant – will see a mix of general needs houses, amenity bungalows and homes suitable for wheelchair users.

Members of the public are invited to a consultation event being held on Tuesday, May 28, in Bridgend Community Centre, 17 Bridgend, Kilbirnie, KA25 7DJ, from 4pm-6pm.

The event will allow interested people to obtain information about the project, view the final site plans and house designs, and discuss the building works with the contractor, Ashleigh (Scotland) Limited.

To book your place at the event, email developmentandstrategy@north-ayrshire.gov.uk or telephone 01294 324031.

Councillor Alan Hill, Cabinet Member for Communities and Islands, said: "These new modern, energy-efficient homes will breathe new life into the former Academy site.

"At the heart of this development is our desire to improve the wellbeing of our tenants and address climate change through the delivery of energy efficient homes which are accessible and have been designed to easily adapt to tenants' changing needs."

Work is currently scheduled to get under way this summer with completion expected in early 2026.
