Two apprentices with Persimmon West Scotland have been selected to attend a nationwide construction competition.
Ayrshire College students, Billie Murray and Chantelle Muir, have been selected to attend the Scottish bricklaying 'SkillBuild' competition taking place in Edinburgh in June this year.
SkillBuild is the largest and longest-running multi-trade competition in the UK for construction apprentices and learners. The competition hosts regional championships, with the winners of each then progressing to a national competition to be crowned the best in Britain.
The pair from Persimmon West Scotland have set their sights on the Scottish crown after becoming our first female apprentice bricklayers in Scotland when they joined the company in August 2022.
Since joining, they have excelled in both the classroom and the construction site, which has led to them being nominated by the college to participate in this year's SkillBuild competition.
Chantelle Muir, Persimmon Apprentice Bricklayer, said: "I'm excited to be representing Persimmon Homes and Ayrshire College at this year's SkillBuild.
"It's fantastic to be nominated to take part and I hope my training and time on the tools will stand me in good stead for the competition."
William Smith, Persimmon Apprenticeship Manager, said: "Billie and Chantelle are a credit to both Persimmon and Ayrshire College and I'm delighted they have been put forward for the Scottish SkillBuild competition.
"SkillBuild is the perfect stage to showcase the skills they have honed during their apprenticeship and I wish them both the best of luck."
The Scottish regional SkillBuild will take place on Tuesday 25 June 2024 in Edinburgh College.
