South Ayrshire Council's new net-zero building at Bridge Street Depot in Girvan has been shortlisted for a Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) regional award.
The RICS Awards highlight innovative projects and advancements in land, real estate, construction and infrastructure, celebrating remarkable accomplishments, collaborative efforts and outstanding companies.
This super energy efficient building, which officially opened in December 2023, is in the running for the Public Sector Project award. Certified with an A+ energy performance rating, it serves as an office space and essential welfare facility for the Grounds Maintenance, Waste Management and Golf operational teams in the region.
The judging process for the awards is currently underway. Regional ceremonies are scheduled for May and June, where the shortlisted projects will be revealed, leading up to the announcement of the national finalists in October.
South Ayrshire Council's Portfolio Holder for Buildings, Housing and Environment, Councillor Martin Kilbride, said: "The Bridge Street Depot project was the first of its type for the Council. It's an impressive project that has highlighted the Council's commitment to reducing our carbon footprint.
"Our Professional Design Services team pulled out all the stops on this project. So, it's fantastic to see their innovation, hard work, and determination recognised by way of being shortlisted in the RICS regional awards."
