I & H Brown has welcomed the next phase of works in the development of a major new timber processing plant in Ayrshire on behalf of Egger.
Following successful delivery of the initial earthworks phase, I & H Brown is now well underway with delivering the elements of the main works contract for Egger UK Ltd.'s new state in Auchinleck.
Works include all foul and storm drainage including a large SUDS pond, along with all foundations and concrete floor and road slabs. There are significant below ground structures to be constructed along with an underground fire escape tunnel. We are required to manage and coordinate Eggers' specialist contractors who will be erecting the building.
I & H Brown said that given the complexity of the building, the initial challenge was "understanding the full design so that works could be coordinated safely and effectively".
The new lamination building is an extension to the existing plant at Barony and will allow the plant to produce laminated boards for major furniture producers. It is a similar extension to the previous project Egger recently completed at Hexham and will include some challenging items such as precast foundations, columns, and walls along with glulam timber beams. The extents of concrete surfacing and flooring works will be an extensive part of our works with the anticipated volume of concrete required at 4500m3.
