Fife Council has launched a programme of emergency works to stabilise a collapsed coastal wall in Pittenweem.

The coastal wall behind homes on Abbey Wall Road and The Gyles

collapsed due to damage caused by Storm Babet.

The council has said with very restricted access to the site, a crane has been in place to install concrete blocks as part of the overall solution to protect the now exposed historically listed properties, which is anticipated to be complete early next week.

Fife Council's Spokesperson for Transportation, Cllr Altany Craik said: "The council is working towards developing a long-term solution to the storm damage. In the meantime, this is a much-needed temporary repair that should provide adequate coastal protection throughout the winter and beyond."
