Network Rail engineers are continuing emergency works at Edinburgh's Waverley Station, following a power surge on Thursday, 02 November.

Network Rail engineers are on-site working hard to identify the fault, restore signalling and get trains back on the move.

The complex nature of the fault means trains won't run to or from Edinburgh Waverley until the works are complete.

Train operators affected (ScotRail, London North Eastern Railway, TransPennine Express, CrossCountry, Lumo, Avanti West Coast and Caledonian Sleeper) are working to keep passengers on the move, though rail replacement transport is limited.

Liam Sumpter, Network Rail Scotland route director, said: "Our engineers are working as fast as they can to fix the fault with the signalling system at Edinburgh Waverley and get train services back on the move.

"The complex nature of our signalling systems means identifying and repairing faults can be a difficult process and we are sorry for the disruption caused to our customers.

"We'd urge passengers travelling on Friday morning to check with National Rail Enquiries or their train operator before they set off for the latest information."
