The UK government has announced the allocation of £14.4 million for the redevelopment of a Dundee multi-storey car park into a sustainable transport hub.
The funding has been allocated from the Levelling Up Fund, issued by the Department for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities.
The Bell Street Green Transport Hub will help to deliver a city centre where people want to live, work and socialise. The shell of the building will remain the same, but the new facility created inside will include:
• enhanced links to the city centre through an upgraded underpass
• a large parking area for accessible electric vehicles
• electric vehicle chargers
• an information point for users
• large scale cycle storage
• car club bays
• e-bike hire
The new hub will help connect remote communities in Dundee to their city centre that includes:
• an award-winning waterfront development
• leisure and culture offerings
• employment opportunities
Charging for electric vehicles and e-bikes will be installed and powered by renewable energy sources.
