Arc-Tech (Scotland) has welcomed the news that three residential projects have been named as finalists for this year's prestigious Herald Property Awards.
The awards, which are amongst the most prestigious in Scotland, will take place this autumn and will celebrate the diversity of the best of new housing in Scotland, recognising the contribution it makes to social and cultural conversations.
Queens Quay, a 146-home development designed by MAST Architects, is part of the mixed-use regeneration of the former John Brown Shipyard in Clydebank. The project was delivered by CCG on behalf of Loretto, West Dunbartonshire Council, Clydebank Housing Association, and Wheatley Group. The development is shortlisted in the 'Affordable Housing Development' category and 'Best Regeneration Project' award, and has recently won a SILVER award for Regeneration at the Scottish Design Awards.
Arc-Tech installed Heat Interface Units (HIUs) in each dwelling, which transfer energy from a heating network to the individual home and provide heating and hot water services. The district heating network at Queens Quay is one of the UK's most innovative, with an on-site energy centre integrated with a combined Water Source Heat Pump (WSHP) system that powers the Queens Quay masterplan and the wider township of Clydebank.
North Gate, a 31-home project constructed by CCG on behalf of New Gorbals Housing Association and designed by Page/Park Architects, has also been named as a finalist for the 'Affordable Housing Development of the Year' award.
Arc-Tech provided Renewable Services and installed 75 solar PV panels to support the project's delivery. This project is one of two that Arc-Tech contributed to on Crown Street, having provided a turnkey M&E Services package for the NGHA Office building, which opened in 2019.
Witch Road, a development consisting of one and two-bedroom bungalows that are specially designed to meet the needs of elderly and ambulant disabled people, has been named as a finalist for the 'Affordable Housing Development of the Year' award. The project forms part of a wider strategic affordable housebuilding programme that has been led by East Ayrshire Council and CCG (Scotland) across the region since 2017.
Ten developments and over 260 affordable homes have been completed to date with each project supported by Arc-Tech's in-house Renewables division with the installation of solar PV panel systems. Witch Road, in response to Scottish Government legislation introduced in 2021, also has sprinkler systems installed within each dwelling which connect to a main pumping station situated within the masterplan.
