Forestry and Land Scotland (FLS) has announced a public consultation on proposals for the future management of Yair Forest.
FLS has proposed a new 10 year Yair Land Management Plan (LMP), outlining the vision for the long-term management of the area. The main management objectives in this plan focus on sustainable timber production, maintained diversification of structure and resilience to climate change.
Calling for input on the proposal, FLS Planning Forester, Tom Harvey, said: "We first consulted on this a few years ago but were unable to take the development of the plan forward because other priorities took precedence.
"The comments we received at the time are still valid but given the length of time that has passed, we thought we'd give people a further chance to offer comment.
"It's a good opportunity for us to gauge the feelings of local communities and to find out what's important for local people."
A consultation event was run in 2017 on the Yair Land Management Plan but organisational restructuring and the prioritisation of other areas of work delayed its development.
The relevant documents and maps - and a feedback form – are available online for anyone who would like to offer a view. Comments can be submitted until the end of August.
