The Ayrshire Roads Alliance has announced it is to carry out road resurfacing works on Old Mill Road (A735) in Kilmarnock.
The works are proposed to start on Sunday 6 August 2023 and will continue for up to 10 days excluding the weekend of 12 and 13 August.
The road closure will be carried out under two phases. Phase 1 will consist of the closure of Old Mill Road at the junction of Glebe Road for a maximum of three days (weather depending). After this section is complete, the junction of Glebe Road will be re-opened for normal access/egress.
Phase 2 will consist of a 24-hour road closure from north of the Glebe Road junction to the junction with Sturrock Street. This closure will be in place to protect the roads operatives and the travelling public, therefore Old Mill Road will be closed daily to through traffic, and will remain closed overnight for the duration of the works. Emergency access will however be maintained at all times throughout the duration of the works.
A signed diversion route will be in place via Armour Street, High Glencairn Street, East Shaw Street, Bentinck Street, Brewery Road, Lawson Street and vice versa.
Local diversions will also be in place for the affected residents who usually take access to or from Old Mill Road.
