New Community Land Accelerator Pilot Project

Scottish Land Commission (SLC) has announced the launch of an innovative new Community Land Accelerator pilot project in partnership with Crown Estate Scotland (CES).

In a 2022 report – 'Natural Capital and Land: Recommendations for a Just Transition' – SLC identified the leadership role that public land owners can play in helping diversify land ownership in Scotland, including enabling community land acquisition.

SLC has now partnered with Crown Estate Scotland to explore how they could help local communities who want to own local assets but are unable to act quickly enough, particularly in the current fast-paced land market.

SLC will be working with CES to design and pilot the approach and hope to learn from this to help inform what others can also do.
