SSE Transmission has welcomed the progress being made on their Rothienorman Substation 400kV Upgrade Project.

Project Manager Arthur Sinakov outlined more about the delivery of two 400kV supergrid #transformers to the substation, which are key components in increasing the load flow of electricity to the transmission network and transporting clean, #renewable power to where it is needed most.

The huge units – weighing around 130 tonnes – were delivered by specialist haulier JB Rawcliffe & Sons Ltd and required careful planning to arrive safely at the substation, and mark a major milestone in the project.

The #Rothienorman Substation project is part of a wider strategy to reinforce the transmission network in the North East and East Coast of Scotland to accommodate increased renewable energy generation, helping to deliver a network for net zero. It is on track to be completed in late autumn this year.
