South Lanarkshire Council has announced a programme of essential repair works in Carluke.

A73 Lanark Road between Wilton Road and Boghall Road will close on Monday 13 March at 7am until 6pm on Friday 17 March to allow carriageway resurfacing work to take place.

No motor vehicles (except those engaged in the work and emergency service vehicles) will be able to park or drive on the road during this time.

The signed diversion route will utilise the A73 to Lanark, A72, A71, and A721

Access to businesses within the road closure will be maintained from the Braidwood side of the closure. Traffic marshals will be on site to advise.

Head of Roads and Transportation Services, Colin Park, said: "We are aware of the disruption that this road closure will cause, but hope that the long-term benefits will be apparent to all road users.

"Your patience and understanding during the short-term period of inevitable inconvenience would be much appreciated.

"Please try to avoid the area if you can during the works, and if you cannot, leave extra time for your journeys."
