Robertson Construction Group has been awarded the contract for the remaining construction works of the replacement Riverbank School project in Tillydrone.
Following a decision taken at a Aberdeen City Council meeting in August 2022 to re-tender the project, works on the new school are expected to commence in Spring with an expected completion date of Summer 2024.
The new school is being built on the site of the former Tillydrone Infant School and also on part of the former St Machar Primary School site and will increase local Primary School capacity to cater for families moving to new housing developments in the area.
The three-stream primary school with Early Learning and Childcare (ELC) provision will also include a 3G sports pitch and external outdoor play and learning facilities.
Finance and Resources Committee Convener Councillor Alexander McLellan said: "I am incredibly pleased that we are now in a position to move forward with the build of the school, at a much lower cost, following the re-tendering exercise.
"I look forward to seeing the construction get started and progress over the coming months."
The contract will be available to view on the procurements contract site with the contract sum significantly lower than previously tendered.
