SP Energy Networks has announced the successful completion of a major network refurbishment project to improve the resilience of electricity supply in East Lothian and the Borders.
Started in November 2020, the £45 million project, covering more than 40 miles between Cockenzie in East Lothian and the village of Eccles in the Scottish Borders, forms part of a wider £2 billion investment plan to "futureproof" the transmission network.
The project involved the inspection and refurbishment of around 190 towers, with over 788km of conductors and insulators replaced.
