Orkney Islands Council has welcomed the re-appointment of the high performing Building Standards Service as building standards verifier for a further six years.
The Council was notified of the news by letter from the Minister for Zero Carbon Buildings, Active Travel and Tenants' Rights, Patrick Harvie MSP who commended the service for its "continuous improvement and wider commitment across the authority".
The Council will continue as the building standards verifier for the local authority area from May 2023 until the end of April 2029.
Hayley Green, the Council's Corporate Director of Neighbourhood Services and Infrastructure said: "I wish to offer my congratulations to the team behind the service for their ongoing hard work and diligence which has, yet again, paid off with the six-year appointment. We have a solid foundation in place, but the improvement work doesn't stop now, we will continue to build upon the great work already done to ensure a top quality service now and into the future."
Chair of the Council's Development and Infrastructure Committee, Councillor David Dawson added: "I wish to add my thanks to the building standards service for the commitment shown to the Building Standards Operating and Performance frameworks. The investment in the service is paying dividends."
