North Lanarkshire Council has announced a programme of works in the development of a new transport hub at Motherwell Station, due to get underway on 08 October.
A section of Muir Street that provides access to the shops and railway station will be closed from 7.30am on Saturday 8 October to 7.00pm on Sunday 9 October. The temporary closure is to allow work next to the road to be carried out safely.
During the closure, all residents and businesses will have limited vehicle access to their properties. Alternative local routes will be available and diversions in place for vehicles.
Every effort will be made to minimise disruption to local residents and businesses while these works take place.
This work is part of our project to create a transport hub at Motherwell Station and will include:
• create a high-quality bus, train and bike transport interchange on Muir Street
• expansion of bus facility on Muir Street
• a new station access road with new facilities for taxis
• car drop-off and disabled parking
• improvements to pedestrian and cycling access.
