Perth & Kinross Council have granted planning permission for Scotland's first Passivhaus swimming pool and leisure centre, the Blairgowrie Recreation Centre.
Welcoming the news, architects Holmes Miller said that they "look forward to delivering Perth & Kinross Council's vision in working towards Carbon zero".
The project comprises the Design and Construction of a new Recreation Centre to deliver the physical education curriculum for Blairgowrie High school while also providing leisure facilities for use by the local community.
It is one of few UK sports hubs pioneering efficiency through a reduction in energy requirements, and only the second swimming pool in the UK to be built to Passivhaus standards, setting a benchmark to a greener, healthier lifestyle.
