Pacific Building Announces New Recruits And Constracts

Pacific Building have welcomed a number of new recruits following recent contract awards and as a direct result of increased business demand from the company's framework clients.

Recent recruits have included Pre-Development Manager Kevin Harris, Administrative Assistant Vicky Slater, Contracts Manager Hugh Parker, Site Manager Nick Jones and Senior Quantity Surveyor Colin Clocherty, and they have now been joined by QS Fiona McLean and Site Manager Robert Neilson.

The drive to beef up the team has been brought about by an uplift in contract awards in the last quarter alone from clients including supermarket chain Lidl, fast-food firm McDonalds', travel food experts SSP, dining group Wagamama/TRG (whose brands include Frankie & Benny's) and the University of Edinburgh – worth in excess of £5million.

A spokesman for Pacific said: "As a company, we have always been focused on building a great team to meet and exceed the needs of our clients.

"In construction, your people are your business. So we recruit dependable, knowledgeable and skilled individuals and we retain our best team players by promoting and rewarding them for their hard work and reliability."

Pacific have come through the COVID pandemic by demonstrating that adaptability is one of the keys to success.

Customer service has also been key to Pacific's continued success – increasing the chances of repeat business and great referrals.

This approach sees the company encourage effective communication with clients – large and small – on all parts of a project so they can be equal partners in the decision process.

By not sitting back and instead proactively seeking out new opportunities, Pacific are looking forward to starting a raft of new projects, including:

• The creation of a new cosmetic surgery day clinic in Sauchiehall Street, Glasgow, for Cosmedicare, who offer a number of procedures at locations in Edinburgh and at a purpose-built hospital in Livingston, West Lothian.

• New Bird & Signet Bar at Glasgow International Airport.

• The modernisation of the hugely popular Lidl supermarket in Leith, Edinburgh.

• A new glazed link corridor for the Hudson Beare Building on the King's Campus at the University of Edinburgh, together with associated improvement works.

• Refurbishment projects for McDonald's across Scotland.

Managing Director Gerard McMahon said: "As a company, we always say that 'we exist to build great things', but this increase in staff expertise and the acquisition of new business show that we also exist to build a great business for the future."
