BEAR Scotland has announced a £270,000 road improvement scheme on the A90 at St Fergus Monday 11 July.

The improvement works will address defects in the road surface on the section of the A90 from St Fergus village to St Fergus Gas Terminal, creating a safer and smoother road surface for motorists.

The project is planned to begin on Monday 11 July and is expected to take place over five nights. Works are scheduled to take place between 7.30pm and 6.30am each night, with all improvements expected to be complete by 6.30am Saturday 16 July, subject to weather conditions.

To ensure the safety of roadworkers as well as motorists, lane closures with temporary traffic lights and a 10mph convoy system will be in place. The convoy system will be removed during the day; however, the lane closure and temporary traffic lights will remain in place.

Consultation has taken place with all relevant stakeholders in advance of the surfacing improvements to make them aware of the traffic management arrangements.

Commenting on the improvements, Ian Stewart, BEAR Scotland's North East Unit Representative, said: "This £270,000 investment from Transport Scotland will greatly improve and strengthen this section of the A90, as well as create a smoother and safer journey for motorists.

"We've taken steps to minimise disruption for motorists as much as possible during the improvements, including carrying out the works overnight.

"We thank motorists for their patience in advance while our teams carry out these essential improvements on the A90. We encourage road users to plan their journeys in advance by checking the Traffic Scotland website for up to date traffic information and allow some extra time to reach their destination."

Materials removed from the existing carriageway will be recycled using SEPA approved methods.
